intractability
Refusal to budge
Intractability is the quality of being difficult to manage, control, or resolve.
An intractable problem resists solution; an intractable person refuses to cooperate or be persuaded.
The term appears in medical contexts for conditions that don't respond to treatment intractable pain, and in computing for problems that can't be solved efficiently computational intractability.
