subdermal
Under the skin
Subdermal means beneath the skin.
The term appears in medical and body modification contexts: a subdermal implant is inserted under the skin, whether for contraception, identification, or cosmetic effect.
The subdermal layer contains fat and connective tissue.
Synonymous with subcutaneous, though subdermal is more common in non-medical usage.
