striker-fired
Internal spring mechanism
Striker-fired describes a firearm mechanism where a spring-loaded striker directly hits the primer to discharge the round, rather than a hammer striking a firing pin.
Most modern polymer-framed pistols use striker-fired actions: a Glock 19 is striker-fired.
The design typically produces a consistent trigger pull and a lower-profile slide.
