stonewashing

Fabric aging technique

Stonewashing is a fabric treatment that softens denim and gives it a faded, worn appearance.

Garments tumble with pumice stones or similar abrasives to break down fibers and lighten the dye unevenly: stonewashed jeans.

The process creates that lived-in look without years of actual wear.
