standing figure
Erect human shape
A standing figure is a sculpture, statue, or artistic representation depicting a person in an upright position rather than seated, reclining, or in motion.
The term appears most often in art history and archaeology: The museum acquired a standing figure from the Han dynasty.
Standing figures convey dignity, authority, or formal presence, which is why they dominate public monuments and religious statuary.
