spring constant

Elastic resistance measure

The spring constant is a measure of a spring's stiffness—the force required to stretch or compress it by a unit of distance.

A higher spring constant means a stiffer spring.

In physics, it appears in Hooke's law: force equals the spring constant times displacement.

Also called the force constant or stiffness coefficient.
