special school

Adapted learning environment

A special school is a school designed for students with disabilities, learning difficulties, or other needs that mainstream schools aren't equipped to address.

The term can also refer euphemistically to schools for students with behavioral problems.

In British usage especially, special school is the standard term for what Americans might call a special education school.
