spacewomen
Ladies in orbit
Spacewomen is the plural of spacewoman—a female astronaut or cosmonaut.
The term parallels spaceman but sees less use, as the gender-neutral astronaut dominates contemporary usage: The spacewomen conducted repairs outside the station.
Early spacewomen faced additional barriers in male-dominated programs.
