solo guitar
One player, six-string
Solo guitar refers to guitar music performed by a single player without accompaniment, or to the guitar itself when played this way.
The term encompasses classical fingerstyle pieces, jazz arrangements, and any genre where one guitarist carries both melody and harmony: She's been studying solo guitar for years.
In band contexts, solo guitar can also mean the lead guitar part that takes melodic solos, as distinct from rhythm guitar.
