wall of sound
Layered audio density
Wall of sound is a dense, layered production style in recorded music, created by doubling instruments and voices to produce a massive, reverberant effect.
Producer Phil Spector pioneered the technique in the 1960s.
The term now describes any music with that overwhelming, enveloping quality: The band's guitars created a wall of sound that filled the arena.
