sodality
Catholic lay association
A sodality is a formal association or brotherhood, especially one organized for religious or charitable purposes.
The term appears most often in Catholic contexts, referring to lay societies devoted to particular devotions or works of mercy: She joined the sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
More broadly, sodality can mean any close-knit fellowship united by shared purpose.
