sock garters
Leg band elastics
Sock garters are elastic bands worn around the calf to hold up socks, preventing them from sliding down.
Before elastic-top socks became standard, men commonly wore them with dress socks: He fastened his sock garters before putting on his trousers.
Now largely obsolete, they persist mainly as vintage fashion accessories or with traditional formal wear.
