leg band
Poultry tracking ring
A leg band is a small ring or strap placed around a bird's leg for identification.
Breeders, researchers, and wildlife agencies use leg bands to track individual birds, monitor migration patterns, or prove ownership.
The bands are typically made of metal or plastic and may be color-coded or numbered: The falcon's leg band showed it came from a breeding program in Idaho.
