sociolinguist
Studies speech communities
A sociolinguist is a scholar who studies the relationship between language and society—how social factors like class, ethnicity, gender, and region shape the way people speak, and how language in turn reflects and reinforces social structures.
The sociolinguist recorded interviews across three generations of the community.
