soarer
Wings without flapping
A soarer is something that soars—rises or glides through the air without flapping or powered propulsion.
The term applies to birds that ride thermal currents, to glider aircraft, and figuratively to anything that ascends dramatically: The stock was a soarer, tripling in value over six months.
