sink trap
Pipe's water seal
A sink trap is the curved section of pipe beneath a sink, shaped like a U or P, that holds standing water.
This water seal prevents sewer gases from rising through the drain into the living space while still allowing wastewater to flow through.
The plumber cleared a clog from the sink trap.
