shrimp boil
Crustacean pot feast
A shrimp boil is a one-pot dish in which shrimp, corn, potatoes, and sausage are boiled together with heavy seasoning—typically Cajun or Old Bay.
The tradition comes from the Gulf Coast and Low Country regions, where the cooked ingredients are often dumped directly onto a newspaper-covered table for communal eating: We're having a shrimp boil for the Fourth of July.
