sharecropper's
Crop-splitting tenant's
Sharecropper's is the possessive form of sharecropper—a tenant farmer who works land owned by someone else in exchange for a share of the crop.
The possessive typically attaches to what the sharecropper has claim to despite owning little: the sharecropper's cabin, the sharecropper's portion of the harvest.
The system dominated the American South after the Civil War, keeping many Black farmers in cycles of debt.
