sensory cortex
Brain's sensation interpreter
The sensory cortex is the region of the brain that processes information from the senses—touch, sight, hearing, taste, and smell.
Different areas handle different senses: the visual cortex interprets what you see, the auditory cortex what you hear.
The somatosensory cortex maps bodily sensations, with more neural territory devoted to sensitive areas like fingertips and lips than to less sensitive regions like the back.
