scratch art
Scrape-to-reveal pictures
Scratch art is a technique where a dark surface layer is scratched away to reveal bright colors or white beneath.
The term covers both the art form and prepared materials sold for it—typically cards or boards coated with rainbow or metallic colors under a black wax layer.
Artists use pointed tools to etch designs: The kids made scratch art butterflies in class.
