schoolrooms

Where lessons happen

Schoolrooms are rooms where classes are taught, especially in elementary or primary schools.

The word evokes traditional education—rows of desks, a chalkboard, a teacher at the front: The old schoolroom still had its original wooden floors.

Less common now than classroom, which has largely replaced it.
