safflower seeds
Finch feeder fill
Safflower seeds are the small, oil-rich seeds of the safflower plant, used primarily for bird feed and to produce cooking oil.
The seeds have hard white shells and are a favorite of cardinals and other large-billed birds: I switched to safflower seeds because squirrels don't like them.
Safflower oil, pressed from the seeds, is valued for its neutral flavor and high smoke point.
