running lane
Marked racing path
A running lane is a marked corridor on a track designated for a single runner during a race, preventing interference between competitors.
In baseball, it refers to the narrow path along the first-base line where runners must stay to avoid obstruction calls: The umpire called him out for leaving the running lane.
