rotovator

Motorized ground breaker

A rotovator is a motorized garden tool with rotating blades that churn and break up soil, preparing it for planting.

Also called a rototiller, especially in American English.

The blades spin on a horizontal axis, turning compacted earth into loose, workable ground: We rented a rotovator to prepare the vegetable beds.
