river bottom
Beneath flowing water
River bottom is the land along a river, especially the low-lying fertile floodplain.
In American usage, it often refers to agricultural land in river valleys: They farmed forty acres of river bottom.
The term can also mean the actual floor of a riverbed beneath the water.
