retrognathia
Set-back lower jaw
Retrognathia is a condition where the jaw—usually the lower jaw—is set abnormally far back relative to the upper jaw and face.
The term appears in medical and dental contexts: The infant's retrognathia was causing feeding difficulties.
Severe cases may obstruct breathing or require surgical correction.
