Cracked facial bone
A jaw fracture is a break in one of the jawbones—typically the mandible (lower jaw), which is more commonly fractured than the upper jaw.
Causes include trauma from accidents, falls, sports injuries, or assault.
Symptoms include pain, swelling, difficulty chewing or speaking, and misaligned teeth.
Treatment ranges from wiring the jaw shut to surgical repair with plates and screws.
