restained
Applied pigment twice
Restained is the past tense of restain, meaning to stain again.
Wood floors or furniture may be restained when the original finish fades or when someone wants a different color: We sanded the deck and restained it a darker walnut.
The word also applies to laboratory slides that need fresh dye for microscopy.
