resit

Exam do-over

Resit is chiefly British for retaking an examination after failing the first attempt.

As a noun, a resit is the exam itself: I have a resit in chemistry next week.

As a verb, to resit is to take it again: She's resitting her A-levels.

The American equivalent is usually retake.
