Depth roster players
Reserve teams are secondary squads maintained by professional sports clubs, composed of younger players, those recovering from injury, or athletes not selected for the main roster.
They serve as a developmental pipeline and provide match-ready substitutes: He spent two seasons with the reserve team before earning a first-team spot.
Also called second teams or, in some leagues, B teams.
