National League

Older baseball organization

The National League is one of two major professional baseball leagues in the United States, along with the American League.

Founded in 1876, it is the older of the two.

Teams compete within the National League during the regular season, with champions facing American League winners in the World Series.

The leagues historically differed in rules—most notably, the National League required pitchers to bat until 2022.
