reintroductions

Returns after absence

Reintroductions are instances of bringing something back after a period of absence.

In conservation, the term typically refers to releasing animals or plants into habitats where they once lived but had disappeared: Wolf reintroductions in Yellowstone transformed the ecosystem.

The word applies more broadly to any return of something previously withdrawn—a discontinued product, a lapsed policy, or a person rejoining a group after time away.
