Through-lens viewing cameras
A reflex camera uses a mirror to reflect the image from the lens to a viewfinder, letting the photographer see exactly what the lens sees.
In a single-lens reflex (SLR), one lens serves both viewing and capture; the mirror flips up when the shutter fires.
Twin-lens reflex cameras use separate lenses for viewing and exposure.
Digital SLRs (DSLRs) dominated professional photography before mirrorless cameras began displacing them.
