redwood forest
Giant tree sanctuary
A redwood forest is a woodland dominated by redwood trees—either the towering coast redwoods of California and Oregon or the giant sequoias of the Sierra Nevada.
These forests are characterized by massive trees, filtered light, and relatively sparse undergrowth beneath the canopy: We hiked through the redwood forest in silence, dwarfed by trees older than most civilizations.
