banana slugs
Bright forest mollusks
Banana slugs are large, bright yellow slugs native to the Pacific Northwest forests of North America.
They can reach nearly ten inches long and play an important role in decomposing forest debris.
The banana slug is the mascot of UC Santa Cruz, chosen for its humble, non-aggressive nature: Go Banana Slugs!
