Redleg has several distinct meanings.
In military slang, a redleg is an artillery soldier, from the red stripe traditionally worn on their uniform trousers.
In the Caribbean, particularly Barbados, Redleg refers to poor white descendants of indentured servants and convicts, whose ancestors' pale legs burned red in the tropical sun.
In biology, redleg is a bacterial disease affecting frogs and other amphibians, causing reddening of the legs and abdomen.
