red pine

Russet-barked evergreen

Red pine is a North American conifer with reddish-brown bark and long needles in pairs, valued for timber and landscaping.

The tree grows tall and straight, common in the Great Lakes region and northeastern forests.

Red pine plantations cover much of the cutover land.

Also called Norway pine, though it is native to North America, not Scandinavia.
