recurving

Curling upon itself

Recurving describes something that curves backward or in the opposite direction from its initial curve.

The term appears most often in technical contexts: a recurving bow bends away from the archer when unstrung, storing more energy; a recurving hurricane changes direction from westward to northeastward.

The recurving horns of the ram swept back dramatically.
