recoil pad
Shoulder-saving gun accessory
A recoil pad is a cushioned attachment on the butt of a firearm that absorbs some of the backward kick when the gun fires.
Made of rubber or similar shock-absorbing material, it reduces shoulder bruising during extended shooting sessions: I added a thicker recoil pad to my shotgun before dove season.
