rebaptize

Second holy immersion

To rebaptize is to baptize again—to perform the Christian sacrament of baptism on someone who has already received it.

This typically occurs when someone converts to a denomination that doesn't recognize their original baptism, or when a person returns to faith after a period of apostasy: The church required converts to be rebaptized regardless of prior baptism.

Also spelled rebaptise.
