reading book

Text for perusal

A reading book is a book designed for learning or practicing reading, typically used by children in early education.

The term distinguishes instructional texts from pleasure reading: The teacher handed out new reading books to the first graders.

In casual use, any book currently being read might be called a reading book: I always keep a reading book in my bag.
