re-entries

Returning from orbit

Re-entries is the plural of re-entry, which denotes the act of entering again after having left.

The term appears most often in aerospace contexts, where re-entry refers to a spacecraft or object returning to Earth's atmosphere from space: The capsule's heat shield protected it during re-entry.

In other contexts, re-entries can describe returning to a country, profession, or situation one had previously departed: Her re-entry into the workforce after raising children proved challenging.
