entrants

Entrants are people or entities entering something—a competition, a market, an organization.

The word usually implies structured entry: The entrants lined up at the starting gate.

A new entrant to an industry is a company beginning to compete there.

Race entrants, contest entrants, and market entrants all share the sense of joining an established field.
