rapid antigen tests

Fast infection checks

Rapid antigen tests are diagnostic tests that detect specific proteins from a pathogen—most commonly the virus causing COVID-19—and deliver results within minutes rather than days.

Unlike PCR tests, which amplify genetic material, antigen tests look for viral proteins directly, making them faster but less sensitive.

They're useful for quick screening: I took a rapid antigen test before the party.

A negative result doesn't rule out infection as reliably as PCR.
