Ranked mode is a competitive multiplayer format in video games where players are matched against opponents of similar skill and earn or lose points based on performance.
Wins increase your rank; losses decrease it.
The system creates stakes that casual play lacks: I only play ranked mode when I'm warmed up.
Most competitive games offer both ranked and unranked queues.
