randomisation
Introducing deliberate unpredictability
Randomisation is the British spelling of randomization—the process of making something random or assigning by chance.
In research and clinical trials, randomisation determines which participants receive which treatment, reducing bias: Randomisation ensures neither researchers nor subjects can predict group assignments.
The method is fundamental to experimental design.
