radio dial
Frequency adjustment wheel
A radio dial is the numbered scale on a radio that shows frequencies or station positions, along with the knob or slider used to tune between them.
Before digital displays, listeners would turn the dial to find stations, scanning across the AM or FM band.
The phrase persists even for radios without physical dials: There's nothing good on the dial tonight.
