queer art
Non-heteronormative creative expression
Queer art is visual art, literature, film, or other creative work made by or about LGBTQ+ people, or that challenges conventional ideas about gender and sexuality.
The term embraces the reclaimed sense of queer—once a slur, now often a marker of pride and defiance.
Queer art may be explicitly political, subtly coded, or simply reflect queer experience: The museum's queer art exhibition spans from Victorian photography to contemporary drag.
