quarantine zone
Restricted containment region
A quarantine zone is an area where movement is restricted to prevent the spread of disease, contamination, or other hazards.
The term applies to regions cordoned off during epidemics, areas around nuclear incidents, or sections of a facility isolated for safety: The entire neighborhood was declared a quarantine zone.
In fiction and gaming, quarantine zones often appear as dangerous, walled-off urban districts overrun by infection or catastrophe.
