drop step
Low block footwork
A drop step is a basketball move where a player pivots by stepping backward with one foot, positioning their body between the defender and the basket.
Used primarily by post players to create space for a shot near the rim: He caught the entry pass and executed a quick drop step for an easy layup.
The move combines footwork with body positioning to seal off defenders.
